This is about an episode of Nickelodeon’s “Oh Yeah Cartoons” called “Herb.
I had come up with the character design a few years before while working on Rugrats and decided to submit it to the “Oh Yeah Cartoon” series as a possible episode. Designing, writing, storyboarding, casting, and producing Herb was one of the best experiences in my professional life. The episode also features wonderful acting by Leon Russom and Clive Revill.
This short video shows most steps necessary to produce an animated short or episode. This was done a long time ago and Herb was one of the last episodes to have been shot on film. As well as using animation cells. Storyboards and designs were also done on paper, but that took much longer to switch to digital.
